Facilities Workshop

On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Banning Unified School District hosted a successful Facilities Master Plan Input Workshop at the North Coombs facility, drawing participation from families, staff, students, and community members committed to enhancing the future of education in Banning.

Led by Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Victor Herrera, with key support from Director of Facilities and Transportation Kenneth Paige, the event marked a significant step in shaping the District’s 2024–2025 Long Range Facilities Master Plan. GO Architects, Inc., the firm hired in December 2023 to guide this process, joined the District in presenting preliminary improvement plans for every school site and administrative facility.

Participants had the opportunity to review proposed concepts and share valuable feedback, including “wish list” items and critical facility needs. Input was gathered on topics ranging from safety and accessibility to 21st-century classroom design, outdoor learning environments, and upgraded enrichment and career technical education spaces.

“This workshop gave our community a seat at the table to help us reimagine the future of Banning Unified,” said Superintendent Terrence Davis. “The insights shared will directly influence how we invest in safe, modern, and inspiring learning spaces for our students.”

The Long Range Facilities Master Plan is a dynamic document grounded in the District’s mission and vision, informed by professional site assessments, educational transformation goals, and community engagement. The planning process includes site visits, surveys, steering committee meetings, and this input workshop—all designed to identify and prioritize improvements that reflect local needs and aspirations.

The plan addresses key categories such as health and safety compliance, facility maintenance, and long-term modernization efforts. Priorities include updated HVAC systems, enhanced perimeter security, modern technology infrastructure, and the potential replacement of portable buildings with permanent classrooms, kitchens, multipurpose rooms, libraries, and more.
